appTown on your phone

Every appTown app works on phones and tablets as well as on computers. People using an app don't install anything per app: they sign in once and see every app shared with them.

#In your phone's browser

Open apptown.app and sign in. On phones and tablets:

  • the app's menu becomes a bar at the bottom with up to five views; the rest are under Menu at the top, together with your other apps and Sign out;
  • calendars show as an agenda, tables scroll sideways, and forms use your phone's own keyboards for numbers, emails, phones and dates;
  • a text field set to scan opens the camera to read a barcode or QR code (in browsers that can read them), and file and image fields can take a photo straight away;
  • location fields can fill in Use my location.

Which views show on phones is up to the app's builder: each view is on desktop, on mobile, or both. See Views and the menu.

#The Android app

The appTown app for Android is the same appTown in its own window, with sign-in through your phone's browser (so Google and other sign-ins work), and with the camera, location, photos and notifications available to the apps that use them. It opens straight on sign-in and then on your apps.

When the app is available, phone browsers on Android show a small appTown for Android banner at the top: Open starts the app if you have it, or takes you to Google Play. Close the banner and it stays away for a month.

#iPhone and iPad

On iPhones and iPads, use appTown in Safari or any other browser; everything works there. An iPhone app may follow later.

#Building on a phone

Building needs a bigger screen: the builder works on a computer. On a phone or tablet you can still use your apps, share them and change their settings (Manage app in the menu).
